About the Opportunities

DeLaval Currently has a full time vacancy for a Farm Management Specialist to join their operations on the South Island of New Zealand.

The purpose of this role is to provide Farm Management support that adds value to the farmers' businesses, including support and training to assist with commercial decisions on farm management. You will also support the District Sales Managers and their assigned Dealer networks to increase sales and expertise of farm management systems.

This is a varied and enjoyable role with a focus on developing collaborative and effective working relationships with farmers and District staff, and implementing effective coaching and training initiatives both internally and on-farm.

More specifically, your duties will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Market and oversee the implementation and usage of the DeLaval's software product (Delpro)
  • Provide individual and on-farm group training
  • Liaise and work closely with field staff to understand and agree training needs in the field
  • Provide one on one coaching and support as needed to field staff
  • Refer all sales inquiries or quoting and ordering activities to the designated District Sales Manager
  • Actively input into annual promotion planning to ensure Herd Management is positioned to enhance sales growth
  • Liaise with District Sales staff to develop and implement local promotional activities
  • Contribute to industry events including Fields days, open/farm days, discussion groups and other dairy related events

About you

These opportunities will suit those with field-based sales experience, and qualifications (or equivalent experience) in the areas of dairy, agricultural or science. DeLaval is looking for individuals with experience dealing directly with farmers (e.g. you may come from a rural banking or stock firm role), as well as knowledge in milking system operation and dairy herd management.

Importantly, to succeed in this role you will be a people-person with advanced interpersonal and communication skills, strong relationship-building skills, and a customer focus.

As the nature of the role is autonomous, frequent travel is required.

Finally, you will be comfortable with computers and programs such as Excel.
